Activities in Akron, Ohio and Surrounding Areas to Celebrate Easter and Spring that Are Not Necessarily ReligiousThere are plenty of things to do in our area to celebrate Easter and the coming spring 2010! So much of these kinds of celebrations involve children, so most of what I list here will be child friendly. These are  organized date-first, so as to make organizing your calendar simpler. Come out and mingle and enjoy the warming weather and brightening sunshine in Akron and beyond!

March 16 & 27 (10:00 am & 11:35 am departures) - Take a ride on the Easter Bunny Express and meet The Easter Bunny! The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad will take you on a lovely train ride from Independence to Peninsula, then on a bus ride to Happy Days Visitor Center to meet The Bunny. The annual Easter Egg Extravaganza includes ranger-led activities such as a puppet show, crafts and Easter Egg Hunt with prizes! March 20 (9:00 am) - Bunny Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt. Breakfast is in the Food Court, where The Bunny will visit throughout the meal. At 10:30 am, the Free Egg Hunt will start with over 10,000 eggs filled with candy and prizes. Children will be grouped into ages 5 and under or 6-12 years old for the hunt, then there will be a Bunny Hop World Record attempt after the hunt. Tickets are required for breakfast.
